Are you tired of the same old family recipe for stuffing? Of course not! But, you can’t always get it. Or, sometimes, you might want to try something new. Here is my own recipe – good, old-fashioned, with some yummy twists.
Ingredients:
1 Loaf Honey Wheat Bread – cubed and dried out (I toast them)
3 Granny Smith Apples – cubed, unpeeled
2 Cups fresh Mushrooms – sliced (I then break them apart a bit – better than buying them as pieces)
1 Cup Celery – diced
1 Cup Onion – diced
4 Tbsp Honey
1 Tbsp Poultry Seasoning
1 Tsp Rosemary
1 Tsp Thyme
2 Tsp Salt
1 Tsp Black Pepper
1/2 Cup Butter
1 Cup Chicken or Turkey Broth
Cube bread and bake for 10 minutes at 375°
Put celery, onion, mushrooms, apple, butter, and seasonings into saucepan and cook until ingredients are tender
Stir in honey
Transfer bread cubes to large bowl and pour mixture over. Mix gently. Drizzle broth and mix in (use more or less of this, depending on your preferred consistency).
Transfer to large pan and bake at 375° for 20-25 minutes. Or, stuff your bird!
For prep ahead of time, you can store bread cubes in uncovered bowl. I usually make the mixture and store in fridge. I then heat in microwave a couple of minutes or so to liquify, then continue with remaining instructions.
Enjoy!
