There are some books that you just know need to go on your reading list for kids at some point. I have passed my love of reading onto my kids, and have many favorites. I want them to enjoy those, as well as the ones I never knew I had missed out on until I started looking for all of the must-reads.
At this age we have a lot of read aloud time, so these don’t have to be books they conquer all on their own. But once they can, they will want to read these over and over. Here is the reading list that I have made for my kids to enjoy now and in the coming years:
Wind in the Willows
James and the Giant Peach
Jungle Book
Treasure Island
The Velveteen Rabbit
Watership Down
The Secret Garden

Pippi Longstocking
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (Narnia series)
